Lobbying for our future

Pi Beta Phi participates in ongoing efforts in Washington, D.C., on behalf of the fraternity and sorority community. For more than 10 years, representatives of fraternities and sororities have established relationships and communicated our issues and concerns with Members of Congress.

The work is done through the Fraternal Government Relations Coalition (FGRC), of which Pi Beta Phi is a member. The coalition, representing the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) and the Fraternity and Sorority Political Action Committee (FSPAC), monitors and addresses legislative issues important to the fraternity world such as anti-hazing legislation, freedom of association, safe housing and college affordability.

Apply now to Participate in Capitol Hill visits

Each spring, a team of Pi Phi collegians and alumnae lobby on Capitol Hill alongside more than 200 fraternity and sorority members—both students and alumni. The men and women not only lobby in favor of legislation important to fraternities and sororities, but also share updates about their personal experiences and news from their respective campuses.

Pi Phi is seeking enthusiastic junior and senior members, living in the U.S., with an interest in federal government and current affairs to travel to Washington D.C. for Capitol Hill Visits with lawmakers and/or their staffs on behalf of FGRC between April 18-19, 2023. Interested members should complete the following form by December 15, 2022.

Pi Beta Phi will review all applications and forward those most qualified for final selection by the Fraternal Government Relations Coalition. Those chosen to participate will be selected and notified the week of February 6-10, 2023.
